Phase I on Veterans Memorial Park was completed by the City of Davenport in 2011, and included site grading, the installation of road pavers and substrate, an approach walkway, and the addition of three flag poles, benches, trees, landscaping and pathway with flagpole lighting.
On March 19, 2014, a large-scale master plan and Phase II concept was officially unveiled, in the process creating a memorial that appropriately honors area veterans while also providing a destination for visitors in the area to enjoy.
In the Fall of 2023, the 8’x40’ Mural will be installed, a Bugler Statue (plays Taps & Reveille daily), 14 Educational signs (12 signs that are 20”x32”, and two that are 4’x8’) will be installed along the walking trail. The signs will have pictures and descriptions of the six branches of the military (including Space Force), along with seven signs with info and pictures of some of the wars the US has been involved, and a large sign with information about the Rock Island Arsenal Military base.
